Goals
To determine (1) the status of marsh accretion modeling for California’s estuaries, (2) what model inputs/improvements are needed to replica uhren kaufen adequately predict the future sustainability of marsh habitats, and (3) outline the first steps for developing a white paper on modeling, monitoring, and management needs for California’s estuaries in the face of sea-level rise.
Questions addressed
1) What models were available to predict marsh sustainability, where can particular models best be applied, and what are the strengths and weaknesses of these models?
2) What model inputs were available for what types of marshes?
3) What types of monitoring and measurements were required to adequately model marsh sustainability in California’s estuaries?
Who
Invited guests were leading managers, researchers, and modelers whose work informs estuarine marsh conservation under sea-level rise. Organizers: Judith Drexler, Laura Valoppi (both with USGS) and Grey Hayes and Marina Psaros (Elkhorn Slough and San Francisco Bay Coastal Training Programs). Sponsored by: USGS California Water Science Center, San Francisco Bay Joint Venture, and the National Estuarine Research Reserve’s Coastal Training Program.
AGENDA
